CP - Worming, Flea, Tick and Heartworms
INTESTINAL WORMING
We recommend worming with Drontal or Milbemax Puppy Wormer.
Pups are started on Drontal from 2 weeks of age, and then again at 4 weeks, we change to Milbemax for the 6 and 8 week application. Worming is to be continued on the following regularity as follows:
-
Fortnightly until 12 weeks, then
-
Monthly until 6 months, then
-
Every 3 months for the rest of pup’s life
Important Note: The date that your puppy will be due their next worming treatment will be written within our customer information pack.
FLEA TREATMENT & TICK PREVENTION
We use Advocate flea treatment which covers for Fleas, heartworm and worms, at 7 weeks.
If puppy is over 1.3kgs at 8 weeks old we will treat with Simparica (application according to weight) which covers them for Flea and Ticks which is then required monthly thereafter.
Speak with your vet regarding prevention of heartworm; the majority of products on the market can be administered once puppy has turns 12 weeks old.
When your puppy returns to the vet for the second or third vaccination, please speak to them about what heartworm prevention they recommend and start them on it during this visit if not already protected.
Important Note: The date that your puppy will be due their next worming and Flea treatment will be written within our customer information pack - Worming/Flea and Tick Treatment and Vaccinations Page.
