When your puppy returns to the vet for the second or third vaccination, please speak to them about what heartworm prevention they recommend and start them on it during this visit if not already protected.
Important Note: The date that your puppy will be due their next Worming, Tick and Flea treatment will be written within our customer information pack - Worming/Flea and Tick Treatment and Vaccinations Page.
Please weigh your puppy prior to administrating the next treatment to ensure you give the correct dosage.
HEARTWORM PREVENTION
We recommend that you discuss with your vet at your visit for protection against Heartworm as there as various options available.
VACCINATION SCHEDULE
Puppies require a full course of three vaccinations to ensure they are adequately protected. These vaccinations are typically administered at four-week intervals until the course is complete.
It is important that puppies do not venture outside the safety of their backyard before receiving at least their second vaccination. This includes visits to parks, shopping centers, dog-friendly outdoor areas, schools, beaches, or even walks around the neighbourhood.
Puppies are not fully protected against diseases such as parvovirus until after their second vaccination, and in some cases, veterinarians may recommend waiting until after the third vaccination before allowing them access to public areas. Please consult your local veterinarian for advice specific to your puppy and area.
